Emotional Eating

Do you know what triggers some people to have the eating frenzy? Some may think that it's just because they're hungry, but there are more reasons other than that. For example, loneliness is the cause for some cases.
I've recently read an article about emotional eating. There is this one girl, Nita who is an expert at losing weight. She's been going through a cycle of dieting, gaining, dieting and gaining. She has a fear to gain up to 300 pounds. Nita would be classified as an emotional eater. Food is no longer fuel for her survival, but a drug. She began to think that eating helps her to reduce her pain with loneliness. This caused her to gain more weight and replaced all her relationships by food.
There are more causes of emotional eating. Some may eat when they are bored or depressed. One other girl would be Patricia. Antidepressants and appetite suppressants covered her problems for awhile, but when she began to face problems, her obsession with food would begin again.
Another trigger for emotional eating would be from stress. Julie, 135 pounds, is only 10 pounds over weight. She has to deal with angry people all day as a customer service representative. Her boss would constantly demand her to the point where she would have to run to the candy machine and hold back her anger.
I have always thought that over eating was not that big of a deal, but when I read over this article, it completely changed my mind. People with these problems would need to talk to a therapist who can guide you do a better future. It can give the patients hope and a healthier life!
